Everyone is against antisemitism – and do not know what it is. Anti-racism does not automatically make one immune to it. Antisemitism is a conspiracy belief with unfulfilled anti-capitalist aspirations. It is rooted in Christian anti-Judaism, which declared the Jews as the “absolute evil.” Europe has spread it worldwide. It reached its peak in the Shoah.

Every Jewish woman in the world knows: if things get really bad, there is always Israel. The heinous massacre by Hamas on October 7, 2023, purposefully targeted this promise of protection. To understand Israel means to understand its opponents. Anyone who speaks of Israel as a “colonial project” or “apartheid state” has understood nothing.

Antifa Against Antisemitism – Education Day at AZ Conni

October 7, 2023, marks a turning point. The most devastating antisemitic pogrom since 1945 brought much suffering to the victims of the terror attack, their families and friends, and to the world’s only haven for Jewish life, the State of Israel. Often forgotten are the non-Jewish dead and abducted. This attack was directed at all Jewish life and continues to be carried out from many sides to this day.

This day also marks a turning point for the (radical) left, worldwide. On the day of the pogrom itself, there was solidarity in many countries with those who seek to destroy all Jewish life. Here in this country, there are continuous expressions of solidarity with those glorified as enemies of resistance and freedom fighters.

While the enemies of Jewish life are loud and visible everywhere, the emancipatory left, including us, have failed to articulate decisively and visibly against antisemitism, even within their own ranks.

We invite you to join us for a collective exchange.

The Education Day is an event by Ostra e. V. in cooperation with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Saxony and is supported by AZ Conni. This measure is co-financed by tax funds based on the budget adopted by the Saxon State Parliament.
