DRUNK AT YOUR WEDDING, named after an old Bill Callahan song, is the project of Berlin-based singer/songwriter Nina Töllner. She likes noisy indie rock and traditional folk, and has a soft spot for gloomy stories and dry humour. DaYW songs take unexpected turns, oscillate between fragile and loud, and combine catchy tunes with minor modes. The album I HAVE TO GO HOME (2021, Bohemian Strawberry) was warmly received by German magazines/websites such as Spiegel Online, Rolling Stone, VISIONS, and Kaput Magazin. The third DaYW album GHOST GEAR (2023/24) bothers little with conventional song structure. Instead, it steps more frequently on the overdrive pedal while pondering the darker side of human nature or the eccentricities of the English language.
