Nature is full of recurring forms, structures, and patterns. Some reveal themselves only up close, while others change with the light and leave traces that hint at their origin.
In her hand-embossed works on paper, Astrid Bergström explores such structures and translates them into her own visual language. Through the embossing, the paper itself becomes the medium for the form. Light and shadow cause the works to appear differently depending on the viewing angle—structures emerge, change, or almost completely elude perception. The embossing lends the works a special tactile quality. Their surfaces invite viewers to step closer and, at the same time, stir the impulse to touch them.
The exhibition emerges from an exploration of the plants offered as tea at Teerausch. Bergström studies the forms and structures of selected plants and uses them as a basis for developing new works. In one section of the exhibition, she explores the transformation of the plant by human hands—from the natural leaf through its processing to its renewed unfolding in water.
The exhibition invites visitors to take their time, step closer, and rediscover the delicate forms of nature.
The exhibition runs from September 26 to October 31, 2026.
