The German word “Geschichte” carries the connotation “layer,” as if stories consist of layers layered on top of each other. And It could be said that we experience the world as sensory impressions layered on top of each other, which can be interpreted independently, i.e. they “tell” different stories: I look out the window. I smell tobacco smoke. I hear the water flushing. I notice that I’m too warm. – Our head “automatically” creates a connection. The density increases through information conveyed – for example through written or spoken language. I experiment with telling stories through different sensory “channels” to explore our ability to capture complexity. What stories arise in us when “telling” occurs at different levels of perception? At the Neustadt Art Festival I will perform four performances that build on each other. The stories are about the tension between (biological) existence in the here and now and the attempt to find meaningful options for action as a responsible member of human society. My storytelling experiences flow into the next performance so that I can refine this way of story telling. The four performances will take place at the following locations:
Friday, 8:00 p.m. Anthropoxene Gallery (Scheunenhofstraße 1)
Saturday 8:00 p.m. InterLokal (Kamenzer Straße 38)
Sunday 4:30 p.m. Stadtteilhaus Äußere Neustadt (Prießnitzstraße 18, ground floor)
Sunday 6:00 p.m. Nerdpol Café (Bautzner Straße 53).
I am very happy to receive feedback after each performance.
