Intersectional Alliances Against Israel – #MeeToo unless you’re a Jew

Who feminist solidarity applies to and who is excluded from it had to be bitterly experienced by Jewish and Israeli women after the massacre by Hamas on October 7, 2023: The basic belief of the #MeToo movement did not apply to them. Instead, a worldwide antisemitic alliance formed, either denying or justifying the atrocities of Hamas. Ironically, emancipatory struggles have increasingly become sites of antisemitic conspiracy and anti-Zionist threats in recent years. The lecture shows with examples from recent history how this intersectional exclusion manifests in theory and practice.

With: Merle Stöver is a journalist and researcher on antisemitism, anti-Roma racism, and social chauvinism. She has been dealing with antisemitism within feminist movements for a long time.

Antifa Against Antisemitism – Education Day at AZ Conni

October 7, 2023 marks a turning point. The most devastating antisemitic pogrom since 1945 brought much suffering to the victims of the terrorist attack, their families and friends, and to the only sanctuary of Jewish life worldwide, the State of Israel. Non-Jewish victims and captives are often forgotten. This attack was aimed at all Jewish life and continues to be perpetuated from many sides to this day.

This day is also a turning point for the (radical) Left, worldwide. On the day of the pogrom itself, there was solidarity in many countries with those who seek to destroy all Jewish life. Even here, there is continuous solidarity with those who are glorified as enemies of humanity in the name of resistance and freedom fighters.

While the enemies of Jewish life appear loudly and publicly, the emancipatory Left, including us, have failed to clearly and visibly articulate against antisemitism, even within our own ranks.

Therefore, we invite you to join us for a shared exchange.

The Education Day is an event by Ostra e. V. in cooperation with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Saxony and supported by AZ Conni. This measure is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget passed by the Saxon State Parliament.
