Press photographer Amac Garbe, born in 1979 in the Dresden Neustadt as the child of Chilean-German parents, is working for various clients across Germany. Coming from the press and editorial everyday life of the Südwestpresse in Baden-Württemberg, his focus has been particularly on portraits of contemporary figures since the turn of the millennium. In addition, reportage photography as well as illustrative photography are part of his daily routine. He also deals with growing photo series for exhibitions and publications. Among them the series “Under Lamps” (for example for Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin, AD Magazin, Stadtmuseum Bautzen, Satellit München, and many more). Or the photo series “Accident Cars” (for example for Das Magazin, Ostrale Dresden, Kunsthaus Dresden and many more). Amac Garbe is co-founder, co-editor and sole photographer of the book magazine “Stadtluft Dresden”, which has been published nationwide since 2016. The focus of the photo works for “Stadtluft Dresden” are year after year protagonists from areas such as literature, journalism and art in their urban environment – without catering to the too predictable views of Dresden, always in the light of dusk.
Some of these photos can be seen in perhaps the smallest studio in the Dresden Neustadt on Sebnitzer Straße 26.
