FAQ – FOR LOCATIONS

Who can participate?

NAF involves a diverse range of venues, from studios and bars to shared apartments and basements, even courtyards. We always welcome the exploration of new cultural spaces. The festival’s core area is the Äußere Neustadt, but locations in surrounding areas such as Hechtviertel and Scheunenhofviertel also regularly participate.

How can I participate? What is the “Bunte Brett”?

To participate, you need to connect with artists. You can do this through our “Bunte Brett”, which you can find here. This board is where artists looking for venues and venues looking for artists register. Your details should include: a photo, a self-description text, a link to your website/social media, and your email address.

Once you’ve registered on the “Bunte Brett”, please check your spam folder regularly, as initial inquiries often end up there.

You should also directly reach out to artists who align with your event. In general, you’ll network independently, while we assist in the background, offering tips and potentially extending our reach.

Important: Please send us timely information about your program at the venue!

How do I send you my program?

To have your program included in the program booklet, please send us an email with the following information:

  • Title of your event
  • Type of event (reading, concert, exhibition…)
  • Venue of the event with address
  • Start and end times of your program items
  • A suitable image for your event (preferably landscape format)
  • A short description of your event for the website
  • Additionally, for the program booklet, a brief description of your event with a maximum of 370 characters
  • (Optional) A short description of your venue if you want it to appear on the website – feel free to include links!
  • (Optional) A photo or image for your venue

If you want your event to be included in the printed program booklet, we need your information by September 1st at the latest. Submissions after this date will be included in the online program and the app. Please send everything to programm@neustadt-art-festival.de.

You can see how it will appear in the program booklet here:

How about cost reimbursement?

Thanks to grants from the “Amts für Kultur und Denkmalschutz der Landeshauptstadt Dresden”, the Stiftung Äußere Neustadt, the Stadtbezirksamtes Dresden Neustadt, and many private donations, we have a small fund available to reimburse some of your expenses. Since the process isn’t straightforward, we’ve set up a dedicated page for this:

We take care of notifying GEMA for you. For each band, we need a completed GEMA list from you.

    • Postal code/City
    • Date of the event
    • Time (from-to)
  3. Fill in the details for the band/group.
  4. List the titles that were performed.
  5. Fill out a form for each band.
  6. Send the forms by email to orga@neustadt-art-kollektiv.org.

We’ll take care of the rest, including payment.

What about accessibility?

We aim to make the festival accessible to as many people as possible, including those with disabilities. We appreciate it when venues are accessible to people with disabilities, even if it’s not always feasible. Small accommodations, such as a portable ramp for door thresholds, can make a significant difference. You can obtain such ramps for a small deposit here:

If you have questions about accessibility and inclusion, please reach out to Annett and Sören from NEUSTAD(t)RAUM:

How to create a successful event?

Here are some tips to help you make your event as engaging as possible:

  1. Combine Art and Music: If you’re planning an exhibition, consider having live music acts. This encourages visitors to stay longer and engage with your artworks.
  2. Offer Drinks for Donation: Providing beverages for donations can be a good way to fundraise. Remember, you’ll need a liquor license and hygiene certificate for selling drinks and food.
  3. Creatively Design Your Program: Tailor your program to your vision and creativity. Consider quieter activities like readings for Sundays.
  4. Make Your Venue Accessible: Ensure visitors can find your location easily. Use posters or signs to mark entrances to apartments or courtyards. Templates can be found in our materials section.
  5. Introduce Your Artists: It’s appreciated when artists are acknowledged. Displaying small bios or introductions at the entrance can enhance engagement.
  6. Promote Your Event: Spread the word among friends, family, and on social media. Mention that your event is part of the NAF for added visibility. Tag @neustadtartfestival on Instagram, and we’ll share your event in our stories.

By incorporating these suggestions, you can enhance the appeal and accessibility of your event, making it a memorable experience for attendees.

What should I do if there’s an issue at my event?

Shortly before the festival, we will provide a phone number to all participating venues. You can contact us anytime on this number if a major issue arises. We’ll be at the festival and can respond promptly on-site. For less urgent matters, feel free to reach out to us via email or message on Instagram.
